The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governors Forum, and Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has said the position of the governors of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party on the use of card readers for the forthcoming elections was a clear indication that PDP was already apprehensive of defeat at the polls.

PDP governors had expressed doubt at the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the forthcoming elections especially on the proposed use of card reader.

Okorocha, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Sam Onwuemedo, said card reader was a good innovation that every patriotic Nigerian should applaud.

He said anyone opposed to using the new technology capable of eliminating electoral fraud must have ulterior motive.

Okorocha regretted that PDP governors were scared at using card reader at a time when other Nigerians were rejoicing that an end to flawed electoral process was in sight.

His said, “PDP has been caught by the fear of the unknown. The Nigerian masses have since abandoned them, and they are already aware of their fate at the poll.

“PDP is afraid of its shadows. The party has lost some weight,” he said.

He, however, said APC governors would soon meet and adopt a common position on the use of the card readers, while warning INEC not to “fall into the antics of PDP.”

Okorocha argued that INEC “as a progressive institution, should not listen to the voice of retrogression.”

Okorocha warned PDP not to toy with the future of Nigeria, saying “even though PDP is the ruling party, it does not have absolute powers to decide what happens in the country.”

Continuing, he said “they should realise that the cooperate interest of Nigeria is paramount.”
