Confusion again reigned at the Lagos State University, Ojo, on Monday as protesting workers prevented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Obafunwa, from entering the school.

The workers reportedly pelted the VC with pure water, an action that prompted his security aides to hurriedly whisk him away from the school.

The protesters, comprising members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities and the Non Academic Staff of Universities also embarrassed other principal officers of the university.

The action of the workers, our correspondent gathered, disrupted the Coconut Breaking ceremony billed to herald the institution’s forthcoming convocation.

It also resulted in the postponement of the university’s Senate meeting.

The protesters accused the VC and other officers of working together to frustrate the workers’ interests.

Before now, the VC had instituted a probe panel to examine the alleged PhD certificate saga involving 19 persons in the university.

The action of the workers, who barricaded the two entrances- the Badagry Expressway and Iba gate, resulted in heavy vehicular traffic on the way to the institution.

The demonstration particularly caused traffic on the busy Igando-LASU road as the road.
