Benue State Governor, Chief Gabriel Suswam, said on Friday that he had buried many commissioners and prayed God not to allow him face such occurrence again.

Suswam spoke at Tse-Chia in Buruku Local Government Area of the state when the body of the late Commissioner for Rural Development and Cooperative, Aondowase Chia, was being buried.

Chia had last Thursday slumped and later died at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital in Makurdi, while the governor was on a trip abroad.

Suswam said, “I have buried many commissioners and I am very uncomfortable. I support a claim by one of our traditional rulers that we must all go back to God.”

He, however, lamented that people were busy hiring political thugs to foment trouble in the build-up to the general elections, rather than reflecting on the essence of human life.

“Most people believe that they will hire political thugs to kill, unfortunately they forget the fact that life is full of emptiness, God alone determine the destiny of every man,” the governor said.
