Kwara state First Lady, Mrs. Omolewa Ahmed, has organised a special prayer tagged, “Kwara mothers pray” for the release of the abducted Chibok school girls.
The prayer, which held at the Government House, Ilorin, on Saturday, was a gathering of both women Islamic organisations and Christian faithful.
Mrs Ahmed, who spoke with journalists said the prayer was to seek God’s intervention on the abducted girls, who are still being held by the Boko Haram, more than a month after their kidnap.
“What we are doing today in Kwara is our way of showing our concern about what is going on because it could have been anybody’s daughter and we are really touched. And we believe so much in prayers in Kwara State and we know that we need God’s intervention. We need God to touch the heart of the abductors so that our children would be set free.
“We are just mothers and we are fulfilling our roles, that is why we are doing it on our knees. I know that our men are doing what they should do. But as mothers, this is our case. We call on God, our creator to intervene in our matter so that we can have peace in Nigeria.
“We empathise with them (parents), we are praying for them and I believe that In Sha Allah, by the grace of Almighty God, the Lord will set free those children,” she said.
