The Imo Government says it is constructing specialist hospitals in each of the 27 local government areas of the state at the cost of over N20.2 billion.
Gov. Rochas Okorocha said this while taking visiting editors round the projects on Saturday.
He said that each of the hospitals would concentrate in treatment of specific medical condition such as cancer, brain tumor, kidney, heart, among others.
The governor said that the contract for the project was awarded at the cost of N750 million per unit.
He said that the hospitals, when completed, would be managed by a foreign company for a period of 10 years.
Okorocha said that patients seeking medical care would be required to pay N200 only as part of measures to make their services accessible and affordable to the people.
He said that an Israeli company was also building a state-of-the-art hospital in the state capital to reduce medical tourism, adding that work on the project was nearing completion with some of the equipment already on ground.
He said that hospital, when completed, would also provide Tele Medicine facilities.
According to him, the government has constructed a children park to foster recreation among children in the state.
