The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday paraded two men for allegedly smuggling and selling 10 AK-47 rifles in Lagos and Oyo states.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Umar Manko, said the suspects, Olatunji Olatubosun and Abdulazeem Amao smuggled the guns from Mali, Burkina Faso through Benin Republic into the country.
Manko said the bubble burst when the Special Anti-Robbery Squad arrested Olatunji, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Olatunji was said to have implicated Amao who lives in Oyo State.
SARS detectives were said to have traced Amao to Oyo state where he confessed that he smuggled the guns with agricultural products into the country.
Amao said he sold guns for about N320,000 and had been into the illegitimate business for two years.
