The All Progressives Congress on Monday said Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and his Kano counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso, will not return to the Peoples Democratic Party.
This, it said, was despite their meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja on Sunday.
The party gave this assurance in a statement by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in Lagos on Monday.
According to the statement, the governors were at the Presidential Villa at the invitation of Jonathan.
It said as the President is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, there was no reason why any governor would not honour his invitation.
The statement read in part, : “There is therefore nothing extraordinary about the correct decision of the two Governors to meet with the President, even as we note that the decision by some PDP governors to attend the meeting is purely within their prerogative.
“The decision by the governors to leave the PDP is irreversible, in spite of the meeting. Therefore, Governors Wamakko and Kwankwaso remain APC Governors.”
