Mr Salisu Mohammed, 45, of Lugbe village, FCT, Monday, dragged his brother-in-law, Adamu Musa, before an FCT Area Court, Lugbe, over failure to cater for his wife.
Mohammed said, in a statement before the court, that Musa married his sister, Maryam, seven years ago, but brought her to her parents three months ago due to prolonged illness.
He said: “He abandoned my sister in our house and it is I and my parents that have been taking care of her feeding and sickness.
“We have been moving from one hospital to another and her condition is worsening.
“I want this court to order the defendant to come and take her to the hospital or in the alternative, pay the family N100,000 to enable us pay her medical bills.”
The defendant was not in court when the case was mentioned.
He was represented by his brother, Liman Musa, who claimed that the defendant was ill and could not come to court.
Musa prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable the defendant appear in person.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Haruna Masanawa, adjourned the case to December 23 for hearing. [Vanguard]
