A 19-year-old man has been granted bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum, by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court after being arraigned over alleged burglary and stealing of N765,000.


The defendant, Saheed Gafar, is facing a two-count charge bordering on burglary and stealing before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe.


When the charge was read, Gafar pleaded not guilty.


The police prosecutor, Iranus Nnamonu, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences sometime in July 2013 at 16, Fadara Street, Ogba in Ikeja area of Lagos.


According to him, Gafar broke and entered into the apartment of one Donatus Onyeagbara and stole N750,000 and tiles worth N10,500, all property of Onyeagbara.


He said the offence contravened section 306 and punishable under section 285 of the Criminal Law ii Vol 44 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.


After granting him bail in the sum of N200,000, Magustrate Komolafe adjourned the case to February 28, 2014.
