A total of 7,600 women and youths in Kaduna State are to benefit from trainings in agriculture and various skills under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (Sure-P).


Kaduna state governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, who addressed the beneficiaries during the launch of the skills acquisition program, highlighted that the trainings would equip the citizenry with employable skills that would help reduce poverty and unemployment in the state.


Women, youth and government officials drawn from the 21 local councils in the state gathered at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua hall, venue of the event.


Not less than 1,500 participants are to benefit from Women Empowerment Program, 2,300 under youth empowerment, 2,300 under Agriculture enterprises and 1,500 under Irrigation farming.


Another 2,300 beneficiaries would be trained in Aluminium works, block making, bricklaying, fish processing, GSM repairs, honey processing, Animal husbandry, leather works, photography, plumbing works, and printing.


The state’s Sure- P committee chairman and deputy governor, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the training to attain different levels of self-reliance.
