The Nigerian stars are in cloud 9 as a fantastic 12 months ensured multiple silverware
Mikel Obi and Victor Moses were part of the Chelsea squad that beat Benfica 2-1 to become Uefa Europa League champions on Wednesday night in Amsterdam.
Even though they didn’t play in the victory – Mikel has been suffering from a hip complaint while Moses was injured in the last league game against Aston Villa last Saturday – both players had played their parts in getting Chelsea into the final.
Mikel played four matches en-route the finals – against Sparta Prague, Steaua Bucharest and the second leg of the quarter final against Rubin Kazan.
His compatriot, Moses played six matches – against Sparta Prague, Steaua Bucharest, Rubin Kazan and Bbasel. He scored two goals each against Rubin Kazan and Basel. He also scored in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donetsk.
It has been an eventful 12 months for both players, with Mikel winning the Champions League and FA Cup last May, the Africa Cup of Nations Cup in February and now the Uefa Europa League. Moses won the Nations Cup and his first club trophy – the Europa League.
Both players were listed in the 25-man squad released by coach Stephen Keshi for the Mexico friendly on May 31.
