Tudun Wada ward executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State, yesterday stormed the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, protesting the suspension of Senator Shehu Sani.
The suspension of Sani, who is the senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, has worsened the crisis rocking the Kaduna State chapter of APC.
Addressing journalists shortly after presenting a petition at the party’s headquarters, chairman of the party in Ward 6, Abbas Muhammed Anni, urged the national secretariat to disregard the document reportedly signed by them on the suspension of Senator Sani.
He said Senator Sani, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign and Local Debts, remains a card-carrying member of the party.
“Upon the said suspension, we held a meeting with the executives and unanimously distanced ourselves from it. Hence, the letter of the suspension is the handiwork of mischief makers”, he said.
While reiterating their support for the senator, Mr. Anni insisted that the purported suspension was not a product of the executive members of Ward 6.
“We are calling on those mischief makers, who are making capital out of the whole hullabaloo to desist from such as it is capable of causing chaos, disaffection and acrimony in the party”, he said.
