It's just about 2 weeks to the general elections, and the Presidency has accused the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari retd of lying on oath over his certificates, saying he must as a matter of urgency exhibit some leadership qualities by taking personal responsibility and clear his name of charges of forgery.

In a statement Saturday, by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, the presidency noted that the Presidential candidate of the APC must not take Nigerians for granted for refusing to make available his academic qualifications to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC as one contesting for the most exalted position in the land.

The Presidential aide noted that General Buhari cannot carry what he termed an undischarged baggage of alleged certificate forgery and wilfully perjury, then still engage in campaigns to shout change at political rallies, just as he stressed that It does not show any potential of responsible leadership on the part of those who want to lead Nigeria to shun accountability on their personal credential, adding that the act suggests that the APC change slogan was cosmetic, puerile and deceitful.

According to Okupe, ” it is inconceivable that allegations as weighty as forgery and perjury will be made against the person of a retired General and a former Head of state without him deeming it necessary to conclusively debunk such allegations but would rather pass the buck to other persons or organisations.
