No fewer than 30 man -gang of robbers operated on motorbikes yesterday and stormed a first generation bank in Ifaki Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government area of the state and robbed the bank an undisclosed amount of money.

It may be recalled that bandits had operated successfully more than four different occasions in the bank in the last five years

The development led to the untimely closure of banks in Ado Ekiti and most parts of the state. The banks decided to close their operations for fear of being attacked by the robbers

It was gathered that the robbers had earlier attacked a police station located not too far from the bank

The bandits who were armed to the teeth had arrived the bank which is located in the middle of the town at about 10.30am and shot indiscriminately to scare away both customers and staffer of the bank.

They were said to have asked the accountant of the bank to open the vault of the bank but the police thwarted their effort

The timely arrival of the policemen to the scene saved the situation as they (robbers) abandoned their loots and their bikes and ran away to different directions.
