Suspected Boko Haram terrorists , Monday, invaded Shani Local Government Area of Borno State and bombed the Divisional Police Headquarters at about 2:45pm.





They thereafter attacked the town , shooting sporadically, burning houses, shops and vehicles.



Shani is about 245 kilometres from Maiduguri and is a border town between Borno and Adamawa States.



Residents fleeing the town told newsmen that, the gunmen after setting ablaze the police station, opened fire on residents.



It was also gathered that the gunmen also attacked the palace of the newly appointed emir of Shani, Alhaji Sanusi Mailafiya in search of the Chairman of the council, Alhaji Madu Walama, said to be hiding in the palace.
