GEJ3A group known as the Supreme Igbo Security Council on Thursday said it would support President Goodluck Jonathan’s aspiration for a second term in office if he indicated his interest.

The President of the council, Mr Bobby Ukadike, made the declaration while addressing reporters in Abuja.

He said that the North and South have had their shot at the highest office in the land, therefore, they should allow other parts of the country to be given a chance to lead as well.

Ukadike said that in spite of many challenges ravaging the polity, Jonathan had delivered dividends of democracy to the citizens of the country.

“It is not the turn of the North or the South to rule Nigeria now; President Jonathan should be allowed to have his second term in office.

“It is the turn of the Ndigbo to produce the next president of Nigeria immediately after President Jonathan’s second term in office”, he said.

Ukadike noted that the Igbos were an integral part of the country, adding that office of the president was not a monopoly of any of the regions of the country.

He also appealed to the leadership of the Boko Haram sect to stop the bloodshed and embrace the option of dialogue proposed by the Federal Government.

He said that the appeal became necessary for the restoration of peace, especially in the North eastern of the country.
