A 28-year-old housewife, Bola Shakiru, has been charged before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, with pouring urine on her neighbour, Mary Chijioke.


Shakiru is facing a two-count charge of assault and malicious damage.


Speaking in court on Friday, prosecutor, Cpl. Femi Adeleye, told the court that the accused committed the offence at her No. 10 Sanusi St., Ejigbo, Lagos residence.


Adeleye said: “the accused conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by pouring urine on Mary Chijioke”.


According to him, the accused maliciously damaged the louvre blades on the window, and the net on the door of the apartment of the complainant.


Adeleye said that the offences contravened sections 166 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.


Shakiru pleaded not guilty to the charge.


The Magistrate, Mr P. E. Nwaka , granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.


Nwaka, however, adjourned the case till 17 December for mention.


If found guilty, Shakiru risks a jail term of two years, according to Section 348, which states that any person who willfully damages the property of another is liable to imprisonment for two years.
