The Kano State Government on Saturday declared Monday as a public holiday to commemorate new Islamic year, 1435 A.H.







This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Head of Service, Mustapha Fagge, in Kano.



According to the statement, the public holiday is declared to allow workers to commemorate the first day of the Islamic year which starts with the month of Muharram.



The statement advised the people to observe the holiday by praying for peace in the state and the country in general.



It also urged them to continue to live in peace with one another so as to enhance economic growth and development of the state.
