Reports have emerged on Thursday, that twerk and a few other slang have been included in the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).
Carnap, FLOTUS and scores of other new entries, including many introduced from Asia and from online slang, have also been added to the respected dictionary.
According to the editor of the OED, Danica Salazar, who spoke in London, the word twerk, a dance popularised by music stars and internet memes, actually dates back about 200 years as a combination of twist and jerk first spelled as “twirk”.
In his explanation, he stated that the use of twerk is used to describe a type of dance, which emphasises the performer’s posterior, noting further that it has its roots in the early 1990s in the New Orleans “bounce” music scene.
“Joining twerk in the updated online OED is the acronym FLOTUS, or ‘First Lady of the U.S.’
“A term that the First Lady, Michelle Obama, felt obliged to explain to London schoolgirls last week when she mentioned her FLOTUS Twitter handle,” he said.
Salazar also revealed that another word from the Philippines was presidentiable, meaning “a person who is a likely or confirmed candidate for president.”
He stated that throughout the years, Filipino English speakers have been adapting the vocabulary of this once foreign tongue, using it to express their own identity and way of life with many additions referring to specific elements of Philippine culture, such as greetings and terms of address.
“The boundless optimism of Filipinos and their unshakeable belief that things will work out in their favour in the end is reflected in the phrase bahala na.”
According to This Day reports, South Asia and South-east Asia also had new entries, where several hundred million people already use such terms.
Some other words popularised via the internet include crowdfunding, internaut, webisode and photobomb. Others are dartboard, tan line, young gun, South Korean, North Korean, Special Olympics, and self-immolate.

With all the back and forth between Meek Mill and Drake, Nicki has stayed away from the drama by not saying anything or taking sides but according to Media Take Out, Meek Mill’s diss track did it for Nicki and she’s done with Meek Mill.

According to MTO..

Just when you thought that Meek Mill’s week couldn’t get ANY WORSE . . . MediaTakeOut.com learned that Nicki Minaj and Meek have officially decided to call it QUITS. Nicki reportedly broke it off with Meek LAST NIGHT. Don’t worry concertgoers . . . they are still of GOOD TERMS – at least NICKI IS with Meek. The two plan on FULFILLING the rest of the tour obligations together. But as for their relationship . .. . it’s a WRAP.

What caused the BREAKUP . . . and why did it happen LAST NIGHT . . . shortly after Meek Mill’s new diss track FLOPPED??

According to one of Nicki’s BEST FRIENDS, “It’s complicated. I think they took their relationship too far, too fast.” Nicki’s homie REFUSED to say whether the Drake WAR had anything to do with it. But we suspect that IT DID.

You’ll recall that MediaTakeOut.com BROKE THE NEWS that Meek STARTED THE WAR when he learned that Drake and Nicki had a ‘DATING’ RELATIONSHIP in the past. And it has to be MORE THAN COINCIDENCE that Nicki DUMPED DUDE . . . just when he’s become a LAUGHING STOCK on social media.

A 32-year-old man has taken his own life in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State after drinking an insecticide known as Sniper. This happened when he learned that his wife was having an extra-marital affair at Ikolo in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The deceased, identified as Amatari Christmas, was married to Tombara, an indigene of Ayama in the same local government area. They have two children.

According to Vanguard, the incident has provoked anger among indigenes of the community, with some kinsmen of the deceased threatening to invoke their ancestors to deal with the unfaithful woman and her lover, identified as a suspected cultist and an indigene of Ayama.

A kinsman of the deceased, who gave his name as Francis, said their late brother, on getting wind of claims of infidelity against his wife, decided to monitor her activities in the community.

“On Monday, the husband went to fetch vegetable in large quantities for his wife to sell. After harvesting the vegetable, the husband told the wife to return home after market to prepare dinner for the family.

“However, the dead husband became worried and suspicious at about 7p.m. when the wife did not return as instructed and went in search of her at his in-law’s house.

“At the mother in-law’s house, he was told she had gone to the father’s place at Ayama. At Ayama, a concerned friend took him to the home of his wife’s lover, where he caught them in bed.”

Francis said that the wife’s lover had threatened to deal with the husband. For fear of his life, he hid himself in an uncompleted building before going home to drink the deadly substance after locking out his two children.

Spokesman of the state Police Command, Asinim Butswatt, when contacted, however, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.

The proud first-time mother took to Instagram, gushing that being a mum is “amazing”. She also expressed her appreciation to her many fans who have continued to send in congratulatory messages.

According to her Instagram post,” Thank you all so much. Words cannot express my gratitude. Your support and prayers have truly helped myself and my family. God bless you all and may He always meet you at your point of need. Daniel Ogundele, the father of the 20-month-old baby, Opeyemi Ogundele, who was allegedly stolen at a christening ceremony in Ogun State on Sunday, said his child is still alive in the den of suspected kidnappers. Ogundele said as at 10:00pm on Monday when he allegedly had a phone conversation with an Ifa priest, Chief Olansile Ifayemi, who was accused of masterminding the mysterious disappearance of the child has told him that his missing toddler was alive in his custody.
Missingtoddler

The baby was said to have been kidnapped about 1:30pm at the christening organised by the family of Mr. Olusola Osunleke for their newborn daughter. In the process of searching for the baby, residents discovered a suspected ritualists’ den in the area, which was adjacent to Osunleke’s house.

The discovery made angry residents to storm the area and vandalise the building, wherein human body parts, human effigy, fetish objects and masquerade regalia, among others, were found. But speaking yesterday, the father of the missing toddler, said he succeeded in reaching Chief Ifayemi on telephone on Monday night. Ogundele stated that the Ifa priest confirmed that the “stolen baby” was in his custody at Isabo area of Abeokuta and that the child was alive.

“We got his phone number and called him on Monday night . The priest said my child was still alive and with him at Isabo. He claimed that he was in Isabo area of Abeokuta. This was around 10 pm on Monday. He said nothing is wrong with my boy. He just asked us to stop people from destroying his house,” he said.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, said he was not aware of the claims of the toddler’s father that the baby was with the suspected ritualist.

Meanwhile, residents of the area where the incident occurred have cried out for help over alleged threat by the suspected mastermind of the kidnapping. Vanguard gathered that, the Chairman of the Community Development Association in the area, Kunle Ojewale said he and three others in the community have been threatened by Ifayemi.

Ojewale who spoke with newsmen on phone said he had run away from home and relocated to Mowe in Obafemi-Owode local government. He said, Chief Ifayemi had called his line and threatened him for instigating the people against him. He said he had since relocated to an undisclosed place in Mowe area. It was also leant that as 6:30 pm on Tuesday, the house suspected to be the ritualists den has been demolished by the angry youth in the area.

Toke Makinwa’s decision to remain silent even though her estranged husband apologized for cheating, has left the fitness trainer, Maje Ayida confused.

On July 22, 2015 Maje Ayida apologized to Toke publicly on Instagram, but the famous OAP did not respond to her husband’s apology.

Probably frustrated by Toke’s silence, Ayida shared a subtle message obviously aimed at his wife.

Holding Grudges. Judging Others. Hating. Wanting To Cause Harm. Witholding Forgiveness. Gossiping. Ridiculing. Ignoring Others. Witholding Mercy. Throwing Stones. Stop It” read the poster shared by Maje Ayida.

In her latest vlog Toke Makinwa spoke about ‘Invest In You’ and said “A lot of things happen, life is hard, people are sad,  don’t stay sad, it’s a choice, it’s a battle but you have to  keep telling yourself that you will survive the day.

On Sunday, July 19, 2015 it was reported that Anita Solomon (Maje Ayida’s mistress) gave birth in hospital in the United Kingdom.

Women who want to have a big family should start trying for a baby by 23, experts have warned.
Even those who only want one child shouldn’t wait past the age of 32, if they really want to become a mother.
The advice comes from scientists who crunched together fertility data on more than 58,000 women to create an at-a-glance calculator.
It tells a woman the best age to start a family – and makes it clear that IVF is not a guarantee for those who wait.
British experts said that the table is so useful that it should be shown to sixth formers and university students to underline the risks of delaying motherhood.
Professor Allan Pacey, a Sheffield University fertility expert, said: ‘We haven’ t got a time machine we can put people in….that’s just a blunt reality.
‘Everyone thinks you can wait – this shows you can’t.’
The advice comes as growing numbers of British women delay motherhood until they establish their career, become financially stable or find ‘Mr Right’.
Around half of all babies are now born to women aged 30 and older, and the number of children born to women aged 40-plus has trebled in the last 20 years
To use the fertility calculator, a woman decides how many children she wants and whether she is going to try to conceive naturally or with IVF.

The table then tells her at what age she would need start trying for a family to have a 90 per cent, 75 per cent or 50 per cent chance of success.
For instance, a woman who starts trying at 23, will have a 90 per cent chance of having three children, if that’s what she wants.
If she waits until she is 31, her odds of becoming a mother-of-three fall to 75 per cent.
And if she holds on until 35, they drop to just 50 per cent, this week’s New Scientist reports.

Professor Pacey said that while 23 may seem young, the figure is sensible.
He said: ‘You’ve got to factor in that people don’t necessarily have children in quick succession.
‘What it is saying is that if you’re relaxed about having three children, you can wait until you are 35, but you’ve got to start early to be certain.’
A woman who wants two children should start by 27, to have the best chance of success, while 32 is advised for those who would be happy with just one baby.
Importantly, IVF offers little guarantee.
Factoring in information women who have had test-tube babies shows that IVF generally only gives a woman an extra year or two.
There are other surprises. For example, pregnancy remains an option for women in their early 40s – albeit with odds of 50 per cent.
‘Everyone thinks you can wait – this calculator shows you can’t,' said leading fertility expert Professor Allan Pacey (file picture)
‘Everyone thinks you can wait – this calculator shows you can’t,’ said leading fertility expert Professor Allan Pacey
The figures are averages and so won’t apply exactly to every woman but doctors say they could still be very helpful.
David Keefe, of New York University, said: ‘It makes explicit certain statistics that don’t sink in for many people.’
One of the calculator’s creators, Dik Habbema, of Erasmus University in Rotterdam, said: ‘We have tried to fill a missing link in the decision-making process.
‘My son is 35 and many of his friends have a problem deciding when to have children because there are so many other things they want to do.’
Professor Pacey said: ‘The table ought to be photocopied and put on the clinic wall.
‘We should be aiming this at sixth formers and university students, so that they’re aware of how to plan their life.’
Adam Balen, chairman of the British Fertility Society, said that family planning should not be just about avoiding pregnancy, it must also tell women about the risks of delaying motherhood.
Society must also do its bit.
Professor Balen told New Scientist: ‘Couples need support so they can start their families early.
‘Women who have children in their 20s are more likely to achieve their desired family size but can also expect lower lifetime earnings than women who start later.
‘We need to ensure women aren’t disadvantaged at work and sort the lack of childcare facilities so we can enable young people to establish their careers and families at the same time.’
Earlier this summer, the broadcaster and IVF broadcaster Robert Winston was criticised for saying good to delay motherhood. Lord Winston said older mothers, who have had time to gain skills and education, as well as build strong relationships, can provide children with a more stable upbringing.
But others warned that age-related declines in fertility mean older women could remain childless.
And pointed out that those who do become pregnant have a higher risk of miscarrying or having a baby with Down’s syndrome.

Incorrect spelling and punctuation can be the making or breaking of a message.
While everyone was taught about the importance of correct grammar at school, many didn’t bother to pay attention and are now reaping the consequences.
A missing apostrophe, colon or comma can turn a simple order into a sinister-sounding message that wouldn’t look out of place in a horror film.
Not very welcoming: This poor spelling would turn customers away instead of enticing them
As people rely more and more on auto correct functions on a computer, mistake-laden writing is becoming increasingly common.
Whether it is a friend writing about their emotions in a text or a fast food business advertising their latest deals, there is always room for an embarrassing slip-up.

And now that everybody owns a camera phone, the often amusing incidents can be recorded forever.
Read on to discover some of the funniest slip-ups that resulted from incorrect spelling and punctuation…
They said what? This student caused horror after missing out a comma in their statement
These two images are an important lesson in the use of commas.
This student decided to suggest a colourful dress code for fellow members of their homecoming, but ended up making a bizarre racial statement.
The same applies to the text below, which was meant to be romantic but instead disgusted its recipient.
Hardly romantic! This lack of comma makes a text seem disgusting

A reminder that spellcheck isn’t foolproof.
The sign below wouldn’t have flagged up any errors on a computer system, but it certainly did when witnessed by humans.
This would be a strange and particularly harsh punishment for shoplifters.
Harsh sentence: This incorrect spelling sends a terrifying message to would-be thieves

Impossible: This must be the least-used toilet in the world

The above and below images once again show how important the comma is when it comes to punctuation.
While the sign above appears to target an impossible demographic thanks to a lack of punctuation, the message below, entered into a doctor’s notes, is equally alarming.
Please don't: The bread bin at this store is encouraging very unhygienic behaviour

Often a misspelled word can make for rather unsanitary conditions.
For instance, in the above picture, use of a tongue instead of a tong to remove the bread from the basket would have fellow shoppers recoiling in horror.
In the below image, replacing an E with an A is enough to make the reader feel nauseous.
Commas and colons are two of the most misused tools in punctuation.
Doubtless, the adult in the above picture had no intentions of eating any children, while in the picture below, the owner of the land is actually getting the opposite of his point across.

Kylie Jenner has been accused several times of going under the knife to look the way she does, but she has always denied it.
Last night, she posted this these photos of her cleavage and booty on Instagram and said that she uses PureLeef’s butt enhancement cream and breast plumping lotion to achieve a curvier figure. She wrote:

Nigeria-Police

Police have arrested two persons for allegedly making the manhood of a 17-yearold boy, Suleiman Usman, to ‘vanish’ at Lambata in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State. A witness, Mohammed Tsado, said the victim told him that one of the suspects alighted from a car and asked him to shake him but he declined.

But the suspect insisted by asking him whether he was not a Muslim. After accepting the handshake, Usman, according to the witness, realised that his manhood had vanished and then he raised the alarm. Another witness, Zakari Mohammed, said the suspects ran into their car and sped off but were intercepted at Muye by vigilantes who had been tipped off. However, the aggrieved youth descended on the suspects and attempted to lynch them. But, the police intervened and took the suspects to the station.

The suspects were allegedly asked to restore the victim’s manhood. Usman was then taken to a commercial s*x worker to confirm whether his manhood was still functioning. He said his manhood was back but he could not ‘perform’. The youth of Lambata later thronged to the police station and threatened to attack the suspects.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, said it was a sensitive case that required professional handling. He said: “But, the angry youth did not allow the police to do their job. I can assure you that we are on top of the matter and we will ensure the case is handled amicably.”

Toke Makinwa is the cover star of Complete Fashion magazine “the wedding special “.. She wrote

Guess who???? So, I have always wondered what I will look like in a traditional wedding dress and when the opportunity came up I went with it. I didn’t have a big old white wedding (PrincessStyle), so this shoot was fun fun fun. I am married to my craft, married to my purpose and I am definitely married to my dreams.

A reporter got more than he bargained for at the Elegushi beach in the Victoria Island area of Lagos as he engaged a lady in a discussion.

To his disbelief the 26 years old lady, identified as Ella, boldly told the reporter that she loves s*x so much so that she enjoys it more than real food.
“See, I don’t need money from any guy. All I want is good, hot s*x! But the problem I have with most of you guys is that you are not bold enough to ask a girl you just met for s*x even though you all want it. Most girls want it too, they want you to just make the move to shag them. Even if they are complaining or insulting you don’t stop. You know we girls pretend a lot.”
The lady, whose ID revealed she is a marketer with a new generation bank, revealed that she likes going to the beach which is very close her apartment, every evening to have a good rest and ‘most importantly get laid’.
As if that was not enough, Ella threw the bombshell “I have s*x with my boss every day in his office, the chauffeur too every evening, but they can’t satisfy me at all. That’s why I have to come here every evening to get laid by more guys. I must have s*x at least 8 times every day. It’s like heaven!”.
Ella went on to explain to the reporter that she couldn’t wait to complete this week’s dose of 56 rounds.
She also acknowledged the fact that many would think it is abnormal, but she insisted that making love eight times a day can’t really satisfy her. She says there is nothing wrong in being an addict.

“All the men I have met always have to admit they can’t cope with my s*xual urge
,” she boasted.

9 people have been arrested in connection with the July 27th murder of a four-year old boy by 16 year old Tajudeen Azeez (pictured above) in Ijaniki, Lagos.

The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, said the suspects were arrested following a confessional statement by Azeez who is currently in police custody.

She added that the police is still investigating the matter and more arrest will be made.

Azeez had agreed to kill his neighbor’s child after a man named Osho promised to give him N50,000 if he can provide human flesh.
