A key Boko Haram leader, Baana Fanay has been arrested on Sunday in N’djamena according to Chadian Public Prosecutor, Alghassim Khamis. He is said to have been arrested after a fierce resistance in company of two other terrorists.
Banna Fanay was in charge of purchase and trafficking of weapons. He also recruited fighters in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad.
A search in the suspect’s house led to the seizure of different weapons and documents written in Arabic by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau. A man said to be a financier of the group was also arrested. Such a good one.

Thousands of protesting Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), students seized the Sagamu-Ilisan stretch of the Lagos-Ore expressway as they protested at the scene of a ghastly accident that claimed the lives of 12 students of the institution.

The students were crushed to death and others severely injured on Friday when a container fell on a passenger bus carrying the students in Ago-Iwoye, Osun state.

The truck was driving against the traffic and in a bid to avoid a barrier at the Sagamu stretch of the Lagos/Benin expressway, the container it carried tipped over and fell on top of the bus.

The accident occurred few meters away from the gate of a plastic manufacturing company close to the Ilisha Remo junction.

The protesting students halted traffic on both sides of the expressway causing many drivers to turn back. They threatened to stone any truck carrying a container.

The students arrived at the scene in four buses and three cars to pray for their dead colleagues. In emotional scenes they cried, screamed and rained curses on the driver who they held responsible for the deaths.

Police, members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and operatives of Ogun state’s traffic agency made unsuccessful efforts to contain the protesters.

They marched to the site of a factory beside the expressway a few meters away from the where the accident occurred, which they suspected to own the container responsible. The company had to shut down briefly in fear of the students who seemed about to launch an attack but armed police assigned to its gate prevented them from advancing.

The OOU students were reportedly travelling to Lagos state for the weekend when they were killed.

No fewer than 100 people were killed after an Indonesian military plane, C-130 Hercules carrying 113 passengers crashed into Medan, the third largest residential area in Indonesia.

According to Indonesia’s Air force chief, Air Marshall Agus Supriatna, the pilot told the control tower that the plane needed to turn back because of engine trouble. “The plane crashed while it was turning right to return to the airport,” Supriatna said.

Also speaking, police chief of Medan city Mardiaz Dwihananto, said several bodies had been recovered from the wreckage.
“The bodies were in the debris of the plane and buildings…we are taking the bodies one by one by ambulance to Adam Malik hospital. We haven’t managed to evacuate all of the bodies,” Dwihananto said.

The C-130 accident is the second time in 10 years that an airplane has crashed into a Medan neighborhood.

In September 2005, a Mandala Airlines Boeing 737 crashed into a crowded residential community shortly after takeoff from Medan’s Polonia airport, killing 143 people including 30 on the ground. Medan, with about 3.4 million people, is the third most populous city in Indonesia after the capital, Jakarta, and Surabaya.

According to the Liberian Deputy Health Minister, Tolbert Nyensuah, a 17 year old man died of the deadly virus. And they are saying it’s possible he infected close friends or relatives before he died.

“A new case of Ebola has been reported in Margibi County. The person has died and was confirmed positive before death.

He has been buried” Nyensuah said. He added that the man’s body had been buried safely, in accordance with guidelines to check the spread of Ebola.
Family members of the deceased have been quarantined so as to stop the spread of the virus. Liberia was declared Ebola free on May 9th by the World Health Organization. A total of 11,207 people died from Ebola in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone since the outbreak began in December 2013.

I thought Nicole, 37, left Lewis Hamilton, 30, because he wasn’t ready to settle down? What is she then doing with a man 14 years her junior? 4 months after ending her 7-year relationship to Formula One champion, Nicole Scherzinger has finally moved on. She’s now dating footballer Pajtim Kasami, 23, who plays for Fulham. The two were photographed smooching yesterday while enjoying a sunshine break in Greece, where she went to celebrated her birthday. More photos below…
